IMI International Management Institute in Switzerland is a  private hospitality and business management school founded in 1991. We offer a comfortable, family atmosphere on campus and personalised learning support and careers advice for every student.

In the 2020 QS World University Rankings, we were named the 11th best hospitality school, confirming our international reputation for quality academic programmes and excellent careers and internship support.

At undergraduate level, our courses in international hotel, tourism and events management as well as global business and marketing management are validated by Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK and our international culinary arts programme by Oxford Brookes University.

Our postgraduate options include an MSc in international hospitality and events management, providing work experience for those who require it, and postgraduate diplomas offering specialisation in hotel and events or culinary.

In addition, we offer the Swiss Degree in International Hospitality Management (Diplom HF) which is recognised by Canton Luzern and taught in English. This programme allows you to undertake three specialist internship placements alongside three semesters of study and has a strong focus on language skills.

We have deliberately remained small, with a maximum of 200 students per semester. This way our students can be assured of a highly personalised and individual approach to their learning. All programmes are in English, but you have the option to learn French or German as a second language.

A qualification from IMI is a stamp of excellence on any CV and will ensure that you are top of the pile for those first important interviews. Study takes place at our picturesque campus surrounded by the mountains and lakes of Switzerland. Students are minutes away from the historical city of Luzern with its many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

The combination of quality academic teaching, Swiss practical training, excellent industry contacts and breath-taking scenery are a recipe for success. Our graduates can be found in Senior Management positions all around the globe. Their success shows that, to reach the top, it pays to start at the top!

Why?

For more than 25 years, IMI International Management Institute has been helping students from across the world to achieve their career goals and personal potential. Although vocational education and training has been at the core of what we do, we recognise that research is also of equal importance. At IMI we believe that excellence in teaching should be complemented by excellence in applied research outputs. Our aim is to undertake rigorous research that advances academics' understanding about the management of hospitality and tourism organisations, addresses the needs of organisations and policy makers as well as enhances teaching and learning practices. We are committed to transfer the knowledge which staff generate in their work to the wider community, for the benefit of all. We are determined to nurture a culture of research support and to develop knowledge and skill capacities in hospitality and tourism management so as to reflect the assurance to our students that IMI follows a highly personalised and individual approach to their learning. To achieve this goal IMI encourages staff and students to embark on research and publish in international conferences and academic journals across the hospitality and tourism disciplines. As a truly international and multicultural school, we are also keen on collaborating with international organisations to identify opportunities and transform good ideas into applied research and practice.
