The University of Münster is one of the largest and most traditional universities in Germany. It enjoys a high reputation as a scientific institution both nationally and internationally. 15 departments with 120 subjects and around 30 scientific centers form the institutional framework of the university. Around 43,000 young people study, around 5,600 scientists research and teach at the university, thus shaping life in the city of Münster, which has a population of 320,000. The University of Münster is the first signatory of the Magna Charta Universitatum.
