The University of Montpellier is an experimental public establishment (EPE), enjoying legal personality, pedagogical, scientific, administrative and financial autonomy.
Led by a president elected from its Board of Directors, it is made up of governance bodies, components, directorates and central services.
The University determines its educational and scientific policy within the framework of regulations and its contractual commitments.
After a year 2022 marked by the statutory evolution of the University of Montpellier into an experimental public establishment and the continuation of the I-SITE excellence program (PEI), 2023 has confirmed the dynamic initiated for several years to make our university a global reference, recognized both for its academic and scientific influence, and for its capacities for innovation and transformation in a constantly changing society.
From the launch of the digital health school to the deployment of the ExposUM institute's projects, from the certification as a University Innovation Center (PUI) to the adoption of a master plan for ecological transition, including the continuation of the measures supported by the PEI, the entire university community demonstrated in 2023 its determination to commit to addressing the challenges that a major university like ours must address.
It is therefore an overview of the highlights of this year 2023 that I propose you explore with this report which also outlines the actions which are being developed in this year 2024.
As a scientific and university town since the Middle Ages, Montpellier has always maintained close ties with its university. Heir to the Faculty of Medicine founded in 1220, the University of Montpellier was one of the first to appear in the West.
Over the centuries, it has left its mark on the city. Today, the UM preserves a prestigious historical heritage in terms of both real estate and furnishings, as well as scientific, artistic and documentary collections of inestimable value.
Over the years, it has constantly enriched its collections, many of which are listed as historic monuments.
