OCAD University is Canada’s largest and oldest art and design university, founded in 1876. We’re a world-famous hub for art, design, digital media, research, innovation and creativity.
We’re located in downtown Toronto’s Entertainment District and right next to Queen Street West, the Art Gallery of Ontario and beautiful Grange Park. The university has twelve buildings in the heart of the city. Our campus is easily accessible by transit and surrounded by safe, walkable neighbourhoods.
OCAD U has more than 4,500 students and 17 undergraduate programs. Field placement and internship opportunities are available in almost every program. We have over 400 faculty who are practicing artists and designers in their fields. With small class sizes and technical staff in all our shops and studios, you are more than just a number to us.
Just like any other university, we provide a supportive and fun campus life experience. Our campus includes a medical centre, library, plenty of chill-out space, food court and opportunities for intramural sports and social events.

Why choose OCAD University?
OCAD U is a unique and specialized place to study the practice of art and design. As an OCAD U student, you'll be immersed in a diverse, cosmopolitan community made of students ranging in age from 17 to 69, from many different backgrounds, coming to OCAD U from across Canada and the world. The breadth of our program offerings, the quality of our faculty, and the uniqueness of the OCAD U experience are some of the main reasons why students choose to spend their four years of study at OCAD U.
OCAD U has specialized in art and design longer and more intensely than any school of its kind in Canada. Since 1876, our faculty and alumni have included the most influential icons in Canada's visual culture. This heritage has allowed us to develop the most comprehensive curriculum — and the broadest choice of majors — in the country. We offer you the academic rigor of a university with the experimental freedom of a hands-on, small class studio environment.
