History

SUNY Brockport was founded in 1835, known then as the Brockport Collegiate Institute. Since its inception, our school has undergone a number of evolutions and milestones as it grew into the university we are today.

Our University is about more than getting an affordable, high-quality education (although, that is a good start). It’s a community of go-getters, bar-setters, change-makers and ground-breakers. It’s where professors know their stuff and your name. It’s where you own your future and find where you belong. Here, excellence is within your reach

We believe success belongs to anyone willing to reach out and grab it. Our academic programs and campus life are designed to prepare you for whatever comes next… minus the excessive debt.

With a network of Golden Eagles that spans the globe, your journey can take you anywhere.

We’re not all talk. Our promise to engage students and inspire excellence is tried and true. Scan through these facts & figures to see how Brockport is building meaningful lives and vibrant communities.

Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
As a participating institution of the MSCHE, SUNY Brockport goes above and beyond to ensure the standards of excellence necessary for MSCHE accreditation. The College was last approved for accreditation in 2012, and the reaccreditation process occurs once every 10 years, which slates our next reaccreditation assessment for 2022.

In the 10 years between assessments, MSCHE requires frequent monitoring  and periodic review reports in order to ensure that the accredited institution is not only continuing to uphold their standards of excellence, but adapting to change across a decade.
