The American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) is a private medical school. Its main basic science campus is located in Sint Maarten, and separate administrative offices are located in Iselin, New Jersey, and Miramar, Florida, in the United States. AUC is owned by Adtalem Global Education

At AUC School of Medicine, we believe that the complex healthcare landscape of tomorrow will require a different type of doctor — one who is globally minded and capable of working as part of a cohesive team to deliver empathetic, extraordinary care to a diverse patient population.

AUC IS AN ACCREDITED MEDICAL SCHOOL

AUC graduates are eligible to seek licensure in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Some states, such as New York, California, and Florida, require approval for international medical schools. AUC is proud to be approved in each of these states. The US Department of Education has determined that AUC is an eligible institution for participation in Title IV federal financial assistance programs. AUC students who qualify are eligible to receive US student loans in order to attend our medical school.*

A US-MODELED DOCTOR OF MEDICINE PROGRAM

AUC provides a supportive learning environment, enabling its medical school students to learn the foundations of medicine according to the US medical school curriculum model. AUC students benefit from a close-knit community characterized by small class sizes, attentive and accessible faculty, and the comforts of home that allow students to focus on their studies. All of AUC’s clinical rotations are provided at Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved hospitals. This, along with our students’ performance on the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®), bolsters their chances of obtaining a residency of their choosing.

93.2% FIRST TIME USMLE PASS RATE IN 2020

Residency directors look closely at a medical school student’s performance on USMLE exams when making a residency decision, which is why it’s important that AUC students do well on licensing exams. In 2019, AUC medical students achieved a First-Time USMLE Pass Rate of 94%.

92% FIRST TIME RESIDENCY ATTAINMENT RATE IN 2021

Preparing our students to attain a medical school residency placement is one of AUC’s highest priorities. In 2021, 304 AUC graduates attained residency, and AUC had a 92% first-time residency attainment rate
