Strathclyde is a multi-award-winning university. Some of our most prestigious accolades are the Times Higher Education Awards and Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards, viewed as the 'Oscars' of the UK higher education sector.
Winning 10 of these awards in nine years, we've been recognised across a variety of categories. These include the coveted University of the Year and Business School of the Year.

2019 - University of the Year
We became the first university to win University of the Year award twice, after first winning it in 2012.

2019 - Widening Participation or Outreach Initiative of the Year
We won this award for our Breaking Barriers initiative, a pioneering programme which gives young people with learning disabilities access to education and work experience opportunities.

2017 - Workplace of the Year
At the 2017 Timer Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards, Strathclyde received the accolade of Workplace of the Year. Praised for demonstrating our commitment to supporting staff at all levels, the judges noted the University's “impressive employee engagement across the board”.

2017 - Outstanding Strategic Planning Team
We won this Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award for a new approach to tracking student applications, which was designed to help increase the number of students from areas of low participation in higher education.

 2017 - Lifetime Achievement Award
Professor Sir John Curtice, of our School of Government & Public Policy, received the Lord Dearing Lifetime Achievement Award at the Times Higher Education Awards in 2017.

The award was made in recognition of his academic career in psephology – the study of elections and voting – and his extensive media work, which has been widely credited with making complex political issues accessible to a wide audience.

2016 - Business School of the Year
Our Business School has long held an international reputation for excellence. This was further recognised by winning Business School of the Year 2016 for outstanding overall performance, and innovative and entrepreneurial outlook.

2014 - Knowledge Exchange/Transfer Initiative of the Year
Strathclyde won this category in the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards for our Engage With Strathclyde programme. This annual outreach event offers academic staff opportunities to establish new partnerships and enhance existing collaborations.

2013 - Entrepreneurial University of the Year
Entrepreneurial University of the Year was presented in 2013, recognising the outstanding culture of entrepreneurship fostered at Strathclyde through education, research, mentoring and partnership programmes.

2012 - University of the Year
2012 saw us named Times Higher Education University of the Year. The prestigious accolade was awarded to Strathclyde ahead of five other shortlisted institutions.

2011 - Research Project of the Year
We were awarded Times Higher Education Research Project of the Year in 2011. This was presented as a result of a pioneering technology developed by our team of experts which uses light to kill hospital superbugs.
