Come to the University of Northampton and you will see that we do things a bit differently.

Education has an extensive history in Northampton dating back to the 13th century whilst the University of Northampton has evolved from the beginning of the 20th century.

We are one of the youngest universities in the UK but we are already leading the way in adding value to society, which we call social impact. We have won multiple awards for our work in this area, among others, but what matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too.

We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that you actually learn rather than the way you are expected to learn. Waterside Campus opened in September 2018.

We want to ensure that your experience studying with us enables you to transform your life and those of others too, no matter how great or small this may be.

- Security, Safety on Campus at UON
Whether you’re a student, member of staff, visiting the campus, or living around our campus, we want you to feel safe. We have a 24/7 University Security Team, who work closely with the University Police Team, who are here to help keep you and your possessions safe, as well as give you helpful advice on personal safety.

- Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) team, part of the Equality and Access Team within the Vice Chancellor’s Office, drives our commitment to these principles. Through our Strategic Equality Plan 2020-2025 (Word, 60 KB), we outline our vision and values, striving to be an inclusive organisation.

- World-Leading Research
By studying with us you will have the benefit of working alongside active researchers who are specialists in their field. Our staff and students undertake high-quality and impactful research projects across a broad range of disciplines, some of which has been officially recognised as ‘world-leading’, of ‘international excellence’ or ‘outstanding’ for their impact.

- Employability
Did you know that we are one of the UK’s leading Universities for employability? Consistently over the last four years 95% of our graduates are in employment or further study 6 months after graduation. We are therefore committed to ensuring that, in addition to achieving a world class degree, all students develop a broader range of skills employers say make successful candidates stand out from the rest.

We not only offer a range of employability support to help you boost your skills and make you stand out to potential employers, but we also offer access to one-to-one business advice, mentoring, business skills training, access to funding opportunities and networking.

- Become a Qualified Professional
Many industries look for candidates to have professional qualifications. We work with many professional bodies so that you have a head start when it comes to achieving professional qualifications. In the long run that can mean less studying and a higher salary earlier in your career.

- Scholarships and Bursaries
We have a number of scholarships and bursaries that you could apply for if you are studying a master’s course with us. In some cases, such as for The International Scholarship, you could get support for your tuition fees, receiving up to 30% off your tuition fees over the duration of your course.
