Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) has established itself in arts, design and media education for over 170 years. But while our history can be traced back to 1845, our outlook is forward-thinking.
From a city centre campus that boasts cutting-edge facilities, to an approach to teaching which saw us awarded Gold under the Teaching Excellence Framework and ranked 10th in the UK for teaching quality by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018, our reputation for excellence is well-earned.
NUA has thrived as an established University, developing a national reputation as an innovative and creative academic community, with a firm commitment to offering vocational, practice based courses that afford students space to develop their skills and pursue their passion.
At the heart of it all, our students. Artists, designers, makers. Bringing diverse interests and unique perspectives, they share a desire to be challenged and inspired. To learn from the past and shape the future.
Where history meets hi-tech
Our award-winning campus combines medieval to modern architecture on the outside, and contemporary tech and industry-standard tools on the inside.
Our historic studios have high ceilings and windows that flood rooms with natural light – the perfect place to design, make and create.
Norwich is a city where inspiration can be found on every street corner and NUA’s campus is a launchpad to explore your ideas.
Specialist facilities, expert technicians
Our dedicated studios and fully-equipped workshops have been designed to help you build specialist knowledge and flourish in your chosen discipline.
Introductory sessions with expert technicians will give you the chance to develop essential skills, from traditional craft and contemporary digital design to print and production techniques.
Our workshops are always a fertile ground for sharing ideas with students from other courses – a spark for creative collaboration across disciplines.
NUA ranked in UK’s top 10 universities for Teaching
The Norwich University of the Arts is ranked 10th in the annual league table of the UK’s higher education institutions for teaching quality, according to the 2018 edition of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.
The top 10 national ranking for teaching quality – also the highest in the Eastern region – follows NUA’s gold-rating for teaching in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) earlier this year. The latest edition of The Times and Sunday Times guide also identifies NUA as the “third most improved” university in the country across a range of nine performance measures: rising from 88th to 60th in the overall league table.
