National Student Survey success
Buckinghamshire New University has climbed 28 places in the latest Guardian University Guide which represents the 9th highest rise across all UK universities.
Bucks is also a top-three climber in England, and ascended at a greater pace than 34 of the 36 universities in London and the South East.
The University ranked highly for the resources it invests to support its students, and was 13th highest in the UK for expenditure in this area.
On average, the University climbed in the rankings by almost 13 places at subject level. This is the 7th highest average climb rate of all the 120 UK universities included in the Guide. Bucks also improved its ranking in more than 10 out of the 14 (71%) Guide’s subject areas, the 10th best performance across all UK universities.
Highlights at subject level include:
Bucks New University is the fastest-climbing university (up 22 places) for Accounting & Finance, ranking 25th in the UK, and 3rd in the South East.
The University climbed 20 places to 14th for Business, Management and Marketing; and ranks 10th (up 14 places) for Sociology in London and South East.
In London and South East, Bucks is also a top 10 university for Accounting and Finance; Computer Science and Information Studies; Fashion and Textiles; Hospitality, Events Management & Tourism; Sociology; and Sports Science.
For Post-92 Universities, Bucks climbed 41 places to 21st for Business, Management and Marketing; and 42 places to 8th for Accounting and Finance.
An impressive climb of 63 places saw Bucks rank 53rd out of all business schools which represented the second highest rise in the UK for this area.
Professor Nick Braisby, Vice-Chancellor at Buckinghamshire New University, said:
“Our overall rise in the Guardian University Guide’s ranking from 120th to 92nd reflects the significant improvement in our students’ satisfaction with our teaching quality, assessment and feedback in this year’s National Student Survey, and our strong performance in the new HESA graduate outcomes data:
“I am thrilled with our significantly improved rankings in this year’s Guardian League Table. These results are testament to our staff’s commitment and tireless work to ensure our students receive high quality teaching which means they are well-prepared and confident to succeed in their chosen careers.”
In the 2020 National Student Survey, overall student satisfaction rose by 2% in a year and was above sector average at 83%, with the total number of courses achieving 100% overall satisfaction rising from five to seven. The University is in the top 20 of all UK Universities, when all 27 questions in the survey are averaged, and third among Universities in London and the South-East.
The latest HESA data (published in June 2020) showed that Bucks New University has the 5th lowest graduate unemployment rate in the UK (2.1%) across multi-faculty UK universities.
