Think critically. Live ethically. Explore creatively. These are the ideals to which our students, faculty, researchers and staff aspire. As Montana’s flagship university, we set a high bar for academic studies, creative accomplishments and scientific exploration which benefit our students, our community and the world at large.

The University draws a diverse, global population to Missoula – our home and the state’s second-largest city – and helps cultivate an educated, engaged and vibrant community. Our students receive a world-class education in a broad range of subjects that include the trades, liberal arts, sciences, graduate and postdoctoral study and professional training.

Our main campus, nestled in the heart of western Montana’s stunning natural landscape, spans 56 acres at the base of Mount Sentinel and along the Clark Fork River, and includes the park-like Oval at the center of campus, more than 60 architecturally unique buildings and a 25,200-seat football stadium. UM's 180-acre South Campus offers student housing, a golf course, soccer fields and an outdoor track facility. Missoula College occupies two sites, one just across the river from the main campus, and one on the southwest side of Missoula.

Why?

UNIVERSITY CENTER

The University Center – or the UC, as we call it – is UM's Student Union. It is the hub of campus activity, providing student-focused opportunities, programs, services and space.

Inside the UC you'll find the UM Bookstore, the UC Market, the Gaming Den, student life offices, several dining venues, an art gallery, a movie theater, the impressive UC Gardens that span three stories and more.

CAMPUS DINING

Every student wants to know if a college has good grub. At UM, the answer is a resounding “yes”! UM's Campus Dining is recognized for our award-winning team of chefs, sustainability programs and special dining events.

We offer 21 dining venues across campus and two unique student meal plans to satisfy even the most selective palates. And, we not only serve great food, we grow it at our on-campus gardens, too. Eat up.

  • 3,000 pounds of fresh produce grown each year.
  • Gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and halal entrees at every meal.
  • Private, free, one-on-one nutrition counseling with our registered dietitian for all students with residential meal plans.
  • A strong commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle within our operations

UM HOUSING

Our housing options create a living environment that fosters a sense of community and nurtures your educational experiences and personal development. We offer eight on-campus residence halls, apartment-style living in Lewis and Clark Village, and family housing in the University Villages. Welcome home.

ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL

We believe potential should know no limits. That’s why we’re committed to providing equal opportunities in education, employment, programs, activities and services to everyone, including those with disabilities. To us, access is not only a civil right, it’s just right.

UM's Office for Disability Equity ensures that programs of the University of Montana are as accessible and usable by students with disabilities as they are for any student.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Your overall well-being is at the heart of everything we do at the Curry Health Center. We provide high-quality and affordable medical, dental, counseling and wellness services. Additional services include an on-campus pharmacy and X-ray services. Seeing a health professional as a UM student is easy and convenient.

Curry Health Center Counseling Services offers support and assistance in connecting students with resources on and off-campus. Our licensed counselors, social workers, and psychologists, as well as advanced graduate students, offer individual and group therapy in addition to urgent counseling. There is no cost to students for initial consultations and subsequent individual sessions are $25 (up to a total of 12 sessions in an academic year).

THE MISSOULA COMMUNITY

Missoula is a special place. We are a welcoming, friendly and inclusive community that makes room for writers, scientists, artists, gamers, dreamers, and change-makers.

With a city population of about 80,000 residents, Missoula lies at the convergence of five mountain ranges and offers 360 degrees of stunning views. Known as the arts and culture capital of Montana, Missoula's top-rated music venues draw nationally touring acts and local bands alike, galleries line the streets of downtown and opportunities for community involvement can be found at every turn.
