Career Preparedness  

From the first day of class through graduation, Texas Tech University is dedicated to student success by providing an environment that prepares learners for a globally competitive marketplace. Academic advisers guide students through course selection, faculty members aid in research and career advice, and departments work together to prepare students for overall success. The Office of International Affairs’ International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) division assists international students in maintaining their immigration status, enrollment, and integration into the campus and community. In addition, ISSS also assists with Optional Practical Training (OPT) which provides international students with hands-on and in-the-field training to complement their career preparedness and rigorous education.

The University Career Center promotes each student’s success by providing development, career, and job search opportunities to undergraduate, graduate, international students, and alumni. Opportunities include career assessments, résumé and cover letter critiques, mock interviews, personal statement critiques, salary negotiation assistance, and multiple career and networking fairs.

Sports and Recreation

The Outdoor Pursuits Center offers excursions to go hiking, kayaking, backpacking, and more. Students stay active and healthy by participating in a variety of activities such as team sports and group fitness classes at the Recreation Center. In addition to group activities, you can focus on yourself by getting a massage, lounging at the leisure pool, or signing up for personal training.
