California State University Long Beach is the third largest campus of the 23 school California State University system and one of the largest universities in the state of California by enrollment, its student body numbering 36,822 as of Fall semester 2014. Approximately 3,000 students are internationals coming from over 95 different countries.
CSULB was named one of the nation’s “Best Value” public colleges by the Princeton Review, which teamed up with USA Today to present its list of the 150 (75 public and 75 private) “Best Value Colleges for 2013.” and designated CSULB a “Best in the West” college in its website feature, “2013 Best Colleges: Region by Region.” U.S.News & World Report ranked CSULB the fourth best public regional university in the western United States in its 2013 edition of “America’s Best Colleges Guide.”

Together, the colleges offer a total of 81 baccalaureate degrees, 67 master’s degrees, 16 education-related credential programs, and three doctoraldegrees (two joint and one independent).
CSULB is home to the largest Physics Department at any university in the State of California (including UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, and Cal Poly SLO)
U.S. News and World Report has repeatedly ranked CSULB engineering program as one of the Top 50 undergraduate programs in the nation
CSULB’s programs in Accounting, Business Administration, Geography, History, Nursing, and Art are also well respected in the industry
More than 286,000 alumni include Oscar winning director Steven Spielberg, former industrial design major John Dykstra (who designed special effects for Star Wars and Spiderman 2), Chris Carter (creator of The X-Files series), golfer Mark O Meara, Olympic gold medal diver Pat McCormick, and Olympic gold medal beach volleyball athlete Misty May-Treanor among other notables
