Richard Language College has been in operation in Bournemouth since 1928 when Monsieur Richard brought a group of teenagers from France to experience English in full immersion in the local host families and community, practising what they had learned in the classroom.

The modern site was established in 1964 as an international centre for learning English courses.

For over 25 years it has been the only IELTS examination centre in Bournemouth and the surrounding county of Dorset in the centre of the South of England.

It offers general English courses as well as CLIL teaching methodology and Erasmus programmes, English for Business, English for Nursing etc.

Since the start of 2019, it has started to run University pathways courses to complement its IELTS programme and assist young people in their pathway to Univeristy studies in the UK.

The University Pathways programmes currently include:

Pre-Sessional Certificate

University Foundation Diploma in Business

International Year 1 Certificate in Business

International Year 2 Diploma in Business

Pre-Masters Diploma

We have progression arrangements with some UK Universities but are also interested in developing links with International Universities, who would like their students to spend the first 2 years of their degree in an English Higher Education College before completing their final year back in their home country.

This would depend on the academic departments of the international universities examining our courses and verified assessment processes and recognising the quality in a progression agreement.

Our main goal is to help young people to overcome all barriers to learning and become the best that they can be with the gifts that they have, academically, professionally and socially.
