The KE Foundation gives students aged 15 to 17 terrific insights into their future.  Based on the campuses of leading universities in the UK, the USA and Canada, KE's academic summer programmes run for just 2 or 3 weeks, but they are packed with exciting and hugely valuable activity.

First of all, you will take a course in a subject which you may not be studying at school, but which you may wish to study at university.  Choose between: business and entrepreneurship; engineering and technology; law, society and international relations; medical sciences and psychology.  Through lively, hands-on activity, these courses give you a real insight into what it will be like to study your chosen subject going forward.  Other courses include 'Prepare for the future!, with choices between Study skills (for IB, A levels or similar), Research skills (for the IB extended essay or university research work) and The challenge of the future (the impact of possible future developments on study and careers).  Other options include Critical thinking, Preparation for SAT and ACT, and Academic language skills.  You'll also work on preparing for university entrance, and there are minors in Building confidence, speaking up! and Practical leadership and teamwork.

Outside the classroom, you'll take part in study visits, with a chance to visits a range of great universities or places of cultural interest.  Most of our programmes are multi-centre, so you see completely different parts of the country visited.  In the UK, our study centres are Cambridge, Durham and St. Andrews, but from there places you visit include London, Edinburgh and York.  In the USA, our study centres are UMass in the East and Santa Clara in the West, and from there you may visit Harvard, MIT, Yale, Stanford, Berkeley... and get to see San Francisco, New York and a Silicon Valley company.  In Canada, explore a range of leading universities from Montreal to Toronto.

By the end of a KE programme, you will not only have had a great experience making friends from around the world, but also have a much idea of where your future is taking you!

Why?

  • KE has been in operation since 2013.
  • Our programmes run exclusively in July (so the statistics below relate to our July season).
  • In the UK and the USA, KE is a non-profit organisation.
  • KE is largely family-run, but with an academic Principal who is from outside the family.
  • Most of our students come from international schools around the world, but we also invite local students to join us.
  • In the UK, KE is accredited with the British Accreditation Council (BAC).
