Ajman University is a leader in UAE higher education today, tomorrow and beyond.
Founded in 1988 as the first private institution of higher education in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region, Ajman University (AU) is now being recognized as an emerging leader on the global academic map.

The recently released 2019 QS World University Rankings lists AU among the top 1000 universities worldwide. And, the latest “Top 50 Under 50” QS Rankings names AU as one of the top 150 young universities in the world. Even our distinct location in the Dubai/Sharjah/Ajman corridor is ranked by QS as the 61st best student destination on the planet. Ajman University programs are accredited by the U.A.E's Ministry of Higher Education. A growing number of programs are accredited internationally. In June 2018, AU became one of only 11 non-American universities to be certified by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in the United States.

Also in 2018, our Bachelor of Science programs in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering were accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET – the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. In 2019, our Bachelor of Science in Accounting was accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); and, our Architecture Program earned Validation status from UNESCO-UIA, the International Union of Architects.

Whether researching on campus or volunteering in the community, AU students and faculty – from 35 and 72 countries, respectively – demonstrate a great passion for innovation and deep compassion for society. Each of AU’s 9 colleges, including the newly launched College of Medicine, is focused on putting imaginations into action for the greater good.

The College of Dentistry proudly assists more than 500 people each day in a free dental clinic on campus. Last semester, a team of faculty, student and alumni joined forces to help improve the oral health and hygiene of vulnerable populations in Southeast Asia and East Africa. With the recent addition of an AU mobile dental unit, they will soon hit the road to serve local populations who lack transportation.

AU’s Innovation Center is the epicenter of campus and community partnerships. One of the most promising incubated start-ups is the “Smart Arm” created by three bio-engineering students to provide an affordable and intelligent solution for people who have lost hands to war or disease.

Since opening in 1988, AU has graduated more than 36,000 students who hail from 104 nations. Working in a variety of professions – from dentistry to information technology; pharmacy to law; mass communication to business administration – AU alumni now comprise 14 alumni chapters around the globe.
