Tver State University is one of the oldest and largest universities in the Upper Volga region of Russia.
The Department of Russian language (which corresponds to the preparatory faculty) has been training international students since 1991. Students are given 20 hours per week of intensive Russian language courses. Students may enroll for one (15 weeks) or two semesters or attend 2-4-6 week intensive courses. Language classes are especially tailored to meet students’ needs. Well-equipped classrooms with TV, video, computer accessibility, classes in small groups (5-6 students) or one-on-one and modern teaching methods and materials aim to integrate students as much as possible into the Russian way of life. A highly-qualified teaching staff, intensive courses, and an individual approach to each student enable students to realize their goals.
Tver State Universities long-standing partners include the Universities of Finland, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Italy, Bulgaria, China, Great Britain, etc. Thanks to many years of international cooperation, Tver State University has established educational and cultural ties with these institutions and has increased exchanges in the field of scientific research.
Tver State University was founded in 1870, and at present its student body is over 8000 and number of post-graduate students is around 200. The University includes 2 institutes, 13 departments and 70 sub-departments, where students obtain knowledge and skills practically in any sphere they are interested in, having a 2-cycle system of education. In 2019 there will be full time students enrolled in 44 Bachelor and 5 Specialist fields of study and 48 Master degree programmes. Foreign entrants can choose from about 30 different subjects. International exchange opportunities are offered for specialists and teaching staff in the following areas: Economics, Law, Mathematics, Education, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Management, and Social and Political Sciences. The University of Tver has successfully participated in a number of international projects and exchange programs. All international activities of the University are coordinated by the International Relations Department.
Students are resided in 8 dormitories. Tver city is attractive because of its location, about 150 km from Moscow, that takes only 1 hour and 40 minutes by local train. The Russian centre of culture St. Petersburg is situated in 500 km from Tver and it takes 3-5 hours to get there by train. An average value of a basket of goods in Tver region is 9569 roubles in 2019.
