The Technical University (TU) Ilmenau, located in the 25,000-inhabitant city of Ilmenau on the northern slope of the Thuringian Forest, as a small university offers its students and employees advantageous conditions for studying and working that their big sisters cannot necessarily provide. Short distances, small seminars and lectures, the possibility of personal contact between students and university lecturers and effective networking of scientists are just a few of them. Numerous student, cultural and sporting associations and initiatives in and outside the university invite you to individual wellbeing. Overall we see ourselves as a cosmopolitan campus family.

Renowned scientists teach and research at the TU Ilmenau. Her achievements are groundbreaking and in many areas it is impossible to imagine life without them. Among other things, there are the developments of the MP3 format, a powder that protects against electromagnetic radiation, the most precise balance in the world - the supercomparator, the world's largest scientific device for researching the fine structure of turbulence - the so-called "Ilmenauer Fass", one Ultra broadband technology, which can be used, among other things, to find people buried or search for mines, or an automatic shopping assistant for hardware stores.

We are proud to have numerous close partnerships with scientific institutions and commercial companies, both nationally and internationally.
