Since 1987 in Hamburg and 2001 in Berlin, the HTK - Academy of Design has trained thousands of successful communication designers for a diverse range of creative professions in the international design industry.

At the HTK – Academy of Design you learn all the phases of design projects: starting with generating ideas, developing concepts, and then combining text and images into exciting layouts for adverts, brochures, and posters, for example. You then learn the various technical requirements of the production phase of design projects in digital and print media.

Our training course teaches you the skills you need to design advertising campaigns, magazines, posters, brochures – both printed paper and also digitally through ePublishing, packaging for branded products, short promotional films, websites, smartphone apps, and even cross-media concepts for tradeshows and events.

The HTK is a private vocational school for design and has been training communication designers for all creative professions in the media industry since 1987. Our r Offer includes a highly qualified and practical 3-year graphic design training with specialization options in the fields of editorial, advertising, digital media, and illustration. The two locations in Hamburg and Berlin have been operating under one roof since summer 2016!

The academy has intensive contacts with the media and communication industry and offers an excellent basis for entry into the professional world of the communication designer.

The HTK is officially recognized as a private vocational school, and the student BAföG training is promoted. The training ends with a professional qualification as a communication designer. The HTK is part of the Laureate International Universities network with more than 75 universities with over 900,000 students in 29 countries.
