Vitebsk State Technological University is the leading university that trains specialists for light industry, machine building enterprises, IT companies, centers for standardization and metrology, research laboratories, etc. The University has personnel and modern material base for training specialists with higher education, higher scientific qualification, advanced training and retraining of specialists in various areas. The innovative development of the University is demonstrated at a number of international competitions and exhibitions in Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, etc. To date, the University has 63 operating agreements on cooperation with foreign educational and scientific institutions.

Academic personnel of the University include 263 persons: 16 doctors of science, professors, 110 candidates of sciences.120 associate professors lead the teaching and educational process. In total, more than 43,000 specialists with higher education have been trained since the existence of the University. Currently, more than 5000 students are studying at the University at 4 faculties: 1. Information Technologies and Robotics Faculty: “3D Technology for Manufacturing”; “Information Systems and Technologies"; “Computer Mechatronics”; “Machine Building Technology”. 2. Design Faculty: “Communicative Design”; “Design of Figural and Spatial Environment”; “Costume and Fabrics Design”. 3. Economics and Business Management Faculty: “Accounting, Analysis and Audit”; “Marketing”; “Management (also in English). 4. Manufacturing Technology Faculty: “Merchandising and Commodity Expertise”; “Textile Manufacturing”; “Leather Articles Technology and Design”; “Metrology, Standardization and Certification”.
The Academic structure also includes the Pre-University training and vocational guidance Faculty, the Faculty for advanced training and retraining of the staff, Correspondence Faculty. For those wishing to learn Russian we are ready to offer language courses (of different duration), summer and winter schools of the Russian language.
The Master's degree in the VSTU is open for the purpose of training personnel for scientific and pedagogical activities with an orientation toward further postgraduate education. The following Master course specialties are also taught in English: 1. Management in social and economic systems (Master of Management and Economics). 2. Technology and primary processing of textile and raw materials (Master of Technology). 3. Automation and management of technological process and industries (Master of Technology).
Second and subsequent training in the magistracy, as well as after graduation, are on a fee-paying basis. Preparation in postgraduate study is carried out in the following specialties: engineering technology; machines, aggregates and processes (light industry); automation and management of technological processes and industries; technology and primary processing of textile materials and raw materials; organization of production; technology of leather, fur, footwear and leather haberdashery; geoecology. Preparation of graduate students and candidates is conducted at 15 departments of the University. The Council for the Protection of PhD theses at the University was opened in 1993.
