The Technical University of Ingolstadt focuses on the areas of technology and business. In addition to outstanding practice-oriented teaching, the THI is characterized by its research strength. Linked to the regional economic structure, the THI positions itself as the leading mobility university in Germany.
Practice-oriented teaching
An obligatory practical semester in every bachelor's course as well as numerous project and final theses are core features of the application reference. Around 600 students study in cooperation with one of the numerous dual partners. Seminar-like teaching formats in small groups and a variety of internships enable individual support for the students.
Academic training
In order to take account of the increasing pace of innovation and the rapid increase in knowledge in all professional fields, the Technical University of Ingolstadt has made academic further education a central concern. Founded in 2008, the Institute for Academic Continuing Education (IAW) brings together all of the university's academic continuing education activities and offers a large number of events and courses under this umbrella.
internationalization
THI graduates are well prepared for the export-oriented economy. Every second THI graduate has already gained international experience by the time they complete their studies. 150 partner universities offer students a wide range of opportunities for a stay abroad. Each course contains English-language modules, ten purely English-language courses are currently being offered. The diversity and internationality can be experienced up close on the THI campus.
University expansion
The main topics of the university are set out in the "THI 2030" strategy. It documents the expansion of the university to 10,000 students and the expansion of teaching and research in the areas of health / life science and construction, environment, energy / sustainable infrastructure.
6,500 students are currently enrolled at the THI, 750 employees work in teaching, research and administration. The THI budget for 2020 was around €60 million.
