In our conscious and constant effort to contribute to the global health care industry, The Washington University of Barbados – School Of Medicine Est. 2016 has been set on a mission of making quality medical education available for every medical aspirant in the world.

Medical education is a rigorous process of transforming a high school graduate into a health care provider and the process itself has been evolving eversince. With our school’s aspiration to be one of the best medical schools in the region we at WUB strive for academic excellence and the faculty as well as the management of the school have come up with an intensive 5.5 year MD program which enables a student joining the university to build up his basics in sciences making him confident to enter the preclinical part of the program and inturn face the challening clinical rotations.

A conscious effort has been made by our team of experts and highly enthusiastic faculty to inculcate principles of Problem Based Learning and Evidence based medicine along with the standard traditional curriculum of medicine for each of our student to be prepared not just for the licensing exam of their own country but also be ready to perform well at international levels by taking exams such as USMLE, PLAB etc.
Our school of medicine also takes a pardonable pride in being able to collaborate with prestigious health care establishments not just in USA but in other Asian nations such as Nepal and Malaysia etc. to extend the array of clinical opportunities for students from Asia to ensure that our graduates are prepared to represent the school at every level with required knowledge and skills to be licensed as doctors in their countries.

The 5.5 year program offered at our school of medicine consists of:
1.5 years of basic sciences
2 years preclinical program
2 years clinical rotations.

The WUB School of medicine offers the first 3.5 years of the 5.5 year M.D. program at our modern and well equipped campus in the beautiful island of Barbados while students have options to choose for their clinical rotations from set of preffered countries and hospitals.

Explore Barbados the WUB- Way:

Barbados presents itself a perfect destination for studying medicine for students not only from US and Canada but from all over the world. The coral island often reffered to as Paradise Island is one of the carribbean islands and arguably one of the safest islands amongst all caribbean islands. The people of barbados have been known for their hospitality and friendly nature while the country is praised for its progressive attitude to clinical medicine and health care industry. Vicinity to the United states enables the island to be a preferred destination for an offshore medical program.

The life of the island away from the business of various metropolitans serve as an ideal environment for a medical student to concentrate and focus on learning without any distractions and hence enables them to utilize the expertise of the faculty, other available resources of the university to evolve academically in the competitive world of medicine.

High educational standards, constant academic progress, world wide recognitions like MCI( Medical Council of India), WHO( Listed in WDOMS) and very reasonable fee structure has made our university one of the most preffered medical schools in caribbean for students from India. Catering to the demands of our Indian students WUB has set up a provision for providing Indian food for interested students on campus housing.

WUB presents itself as a school of choice for students in search of a school with an American approach to the Medical curriculum with a very Asian price tag as it’s the only school in the entire region ready to go an extra mile to meet the academic requirements of our students like introduction of Live Cadaveric dissectionsintroduction of 3D anatomy, well equipped practical labs for morphological sciences etc.

Within a short span of 1.5 years since its inception the school is one of the most rapidly growing health care education establishment in the region and the team at WUB shall be more than happy to welcome you to our school to nurture your aspirations to become a doctor!
