Murdoch University has been ranked in the top 200 universities in the world for its education programs in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) subject rankings.
The World University Rankings 2019 by subject: education comprises teacher training and academic studies in education subjects. Acting Dean of the School of Education at Murdoch, Associate Professor Caroline Mansfield, said the ranking was a pleasing result reflecting the commitment of staff to producing top-quality teachers and world-class research.
“This result demonstrates our international reputation and the quality, esteem and impact of research and teaching in our School,” Dr Mansfield said.
“Our students benefit from very high calibre staff with a huge breadth of experience and expertise encompassing the entire learning journey from early childhood to tertiary education and beyond.
“Our engagement and partnerships with local and international schools mean we are graduating effective and resilient practitioners and life-long learners.

“The School has also embraced new technologies in its teaching, developing SimLab (pictured), a virtual reality classroom tool to ensure pre-service teachers from Murdoch are among the best prepared in the nation.” Dr Mansfield also highlighted the world-leading research in education, spanning themes including wellbeing, equity and innovation.
“Our research has ranged from the importance of reading to children in the development of literacy skills, to the role of social forces in shaping educational opportunities,” she said.
The rankings are compiled by THE using 13 performance indicators including teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. The ranking for education has been broadened to the top 200 universities in this year’s THE subject rankings.
