Germany is a hotspot for international students. 

The Local's recent article on the results of a new survey about international students in Germany sheds new light on why so many international students flock to the country. 

The online site, Studying In Germany, surveyed over 4,000 prospective students to Germany and determined the number one reason that international students choose Germany.

35.3 percent of the survey's respondents said that they chose Germany for the "low-to-no cost" of studying at Germany's universities, in comparison to the high cost of higher education in their home countries. 

Academic reputation followed second on the list, with 29.3 percent of prospective students reporting that Germany's academic reputation was a key factor in their decision.

Studying-in-Germany founder Besart Bajrami told Local Germany, "Germany is always an ideal destination for young people, and not just for studying purposes, but also for leisure, traveling and working."

Nearly 70 percent of the respondents claimed that they would seek employment in Germany after graduation. 

Bajrami said, "Students from developing countries in Asia and Europe see staying in Germany as a solution to a more secure financial well-being because of its thriving economy, job market, and excellent quality of life."

He added that the influx could also benefit the German economy: "Germany needs young and skilled workers to keep its economy going ... international students bring a lot of economic benefits to Germany during their studies as consumers and part-time workers."

Bajrami believes that the international students who choose to stay in Germany have a good chance of success because Germany has "a lot of demand and available jobs for qualified international students in fields such as Technology, Medicine, Science, and Engineering."
