LAHORE (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Jun, 2018 ) Planning and Development Board Punjab Chairman Mohammad Jehanzaib Khan inauguratedastate-of-the-art Biosciences Academic Block of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahoreon City Campus Lahore on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof DrTalatNaseer Pasha, Dean Faculty of Bio-sciences Prof DrHabib-ur-Rehman and large number of faculty members, students and administration staff were present. Theacademic blockcost Rs90 million and has been completed in 16 months.

The block consists of a lecture theater, three lecture rooms, a seminar hall,eight laboratories, an amphitheater and faculty officeswith allthe latest necessary facilities. Speaking on the occasion, Jehanzaib Khan said thatUVAS has become a hub of veterinary education through its quality education and research.

He said it is direly needed to focus on knowledge creation, which is the main source of development. He suggested that UVAS must developed strong links with private sector for the promotionof livestock and related sectors, entrepreneurshipand economic development.

He said that students’ research thesisshould focus on field problems/real issues of society for community development. Vice-Chancellor Prof DrTalatNaseer Pasha spoke about various UVASlaboratories, disease diagnostics and clinical services, consultancy and advisory services, farmers and livestock professional dairy training for the profitability of poor farming community.

He listed the development projects successfully completed likeNarowal Sub Campus “Khan BahadurChaudharyMushtaq Ahmad Para-Veterinary School Narowal and recently establish Cholistan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Bahawalpur (CUVAS).

He lauded the vital roleJehanzaib Khanas L&DD secretaryin the development of UVAS and livestock sector. Hethanked the Punjab government for providing funds for development projects of the university.He said that recently in Times Higher Education World University Ranking and QS WorldTop University Ranking, UVAS has been ranked not only among top Asian Universities rather among Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economiesworld University Rankings.

He also spoke about the healthy nutrition programme started at nearest primary schools of Ravi campus Pattoki with provided daily an egg and glass of milk to school going children in their class rooms which brought enormous impact in terms of good health of childrento attract them to school.
