Voted on Monday night (26/02) of the House , the bill establishing the University of Western Attica , which includes changes to the students of high school and the student transfers.
In the bill, the "Free Press" notes - five changes have been introduced to the way students are examined and scoring in the Lyceum, which are.
1. For the first year, the exams of the 3rd Lyceum are reduced to only four lessons . Graduates will be examined in Mathematics, Modern Greek Language and Literature, Biology and History.
2. Each lesson will be examined for a two-hour course, except for the lesson of Modern Greek Language and Literature, which will last for three hours. The examination mode changes to this lesson as, in addition to exposure and lexical exercises, students will also be examined in a textual snippet.
3. A change will also come to the examination of the Ancient of the Second Lyceum , where it has been added to the teaching and the work of the Epitaph of Thucydides. The Department of Education in student graduation primes the interpretive questions while decreasing the grading of grammar and syntax questions.
4. Compulsory creative works to be considered in the graduation are from this year's students of the 1st and 2nd Lyceum, which will be drafted during the teaching hours of the courses, at least in one of the subjects taught. In the 3rd Lyceum, creative work is optional.
5. An hourly test of the four-month and unannounced 10-15 minute tests is the instruction of the Ministry of Education to the teachers for high school students. Leadership proceeds to the scissors of the high school competitions, while at the same time increasing by two weeks the duration of the academic year.
What will apply to transcripts?
At the same time the bill clarifies by order which students have priority in the new transfer law for siblings.
If there is an absolute financial difficulty, the siblings may jointly, in accordance with the following order of precedence, be transferred to a corresponding section:
â— The regional unit, where their parents reside permanently or have full ownership or habitual residence,
â— In any other regional unit, except Athens and Thessaloniki
â— In the regional section of Athens or Thessaloniki. Only in the event of absolute financial distress a transfer may be applied for and a student whose brother is attending and residing in the regional unit in which his or her parents reside permanently or have full ownership or usufruct of residence. The economic criteria for the implementation of this case are defined by decision of the Minister of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.
Last but not least, the Minister allows TEI students of this year's academic year (2017-2018) to be transferred from the next to the University of Western Attica.
