Postgraduate courses: The added value of a specialization

Demand and need are two of the main variables that universities, both public and private, consider and study permanently to replace, expand or improve the academic offer they offer. They bet, in their majority, to new masters and specialties, due to the high added value that it means today for the graduates of the different careers, to count on one more degree of formation and professional qualification.

For this year, higher education centers that have postgraduate degrees have opened a large range of new proposals

In addition to traditional specialties, new offers are associated with technological advances and new requirements in the labor market. Each of the postgraduate units of the public and private universities, year after year, renew and expand their proposals with accredited careers both in person and online.

"The academic offer includes short courses, tailor-made courses and diplomas according to the needs of continuous training and updating demanded by the different sectors of the population," said the University Franz Tamayo (Unifranz) in relation to the academic training programs for this year and announce the upcoming inauguration of its new facilities for the exclusive use of postgraduates.

Training based on market needs

The degree options that are added, as academic offer for 2018, respond to the demand of professionals in the local and national labor market.

At least, the existing offers in the country of postgraduate degrees, including masters, diploma and doctorates, reach 500, adding the programs of the 31 universities registered in the country, according to the University Guide published by the Ministry of Education. Of this total, 101 correspond to the business executive area (20 percent).

As the supply increases and diversifies, the demand is also growing and the tendency is to prepare in topics that cover specific needs in companies (knowledge and cutting-edge techniques) and under the blended and virtual modality, to face the challenges of the business world .

Why a postgraduate?

Being licensed is like being a bachelor. It's not worth much anymore. This is the answer of a young man who waits his turn in the seats of the postgraduate area at a university. He, 30 years old and with two years of work experience, says he wants to be a teacher. "It is a requirement. I do not want to be one of the bunch, "he says in statements to El Deber.

The executive of a company ensures that for current professionals being in permanent training is essential. "The professional must know new tools and ways of approaching problems. It must be at the forefront, "he says.

Indicates that the areas of predominance are still the MBA (Master of Business Administration) because they allow a holistic view of the organization. They also highlight those of marketing, foreign trade, computing and logistics.

Despite recognizing its importance, not all university graduates opt for a postgraduate degree, either because of the cost of the same, or because among their priorities is to immediately get a source of work.
