Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Council has approved establishment of a centre for innovation and technology transfer.

The centre would support academics and students in learning and in involvement in all fields related to innovation and entrepreneurship.

The SQU Council also reviewed a report on the achievements of the executive plan of the University which falls within the strategic plan for 2016 and 2017, the report of investments in SQU and a paper on the future academic programmes of the University. 

Discussions

The SQU Council also discussed the interaction between the university and the society in the cultural fields and cooperation with the institutions concerned with cultural matters in the Sultanate. 

The SQU Council also agreed on approval of the budget of the university management and SQU Hospital for 2019.

The Sultan Qaboos University Council also proposed taking into account the performance indicators in preparation of the budgets of the various programmes and activities of the university among other issues.

The above issues were discussed in the 4th meeting of Sultan Qaboos University Council held, on Monday, under the chair of Dr. Rawya bint Saud Al Busaidiyah, Minister of Higher Education and chairperson of Sultan Qaboos University Council.
