Funds are part of a Dh10 million commitment made by the retail chain last year to support the charity, which works to improve the lives of children in the developing world.
Retail chain Lulu has donated Dh1 million to Dubai Cares as part of its 10-year commitment to the charitable organisation, which works to improve the lives of children in the developing world.

“The contribution highlights Lulu Hypermarkets’ deeply rooted belief in our cause and the work we do,” said Tariq Al Gurg, chief executive officer of Dubai Cares.

“We are very grateful for Lulu’s generosity, which reiterates the incredible spirit of charity and philanthropy that is embedded within the UAE’s business community.”

He also acknowledged the group’s efforts to involve customers with engaging campaigns to directly support the work of Dubai Cares.

Yusuf Ali, chairman of Lulu Group International, said: “We are proud to support Dubai Cares' global education programmes, which address challenges in access to quality education in underprivileged communities around the world.

“We are committed to supporting Dubai Cares in its effort to bring clean water and a safe water and sanitation infrastructure to schools in underprivileged communities.”

Mr Ali handed over the cheque to Mr Garg at the inauguration of a new Lulu Hypermarket in Al Warqa on Sunday.

Dubai Cares implements education programmes in 53 countries as part of its commitment to provide quality education to children in the developing world.
